Current VP and Candidate for the Evanston/Skokie District 65 School Board
My name is Chris Van Nostrand, and I’m thrilled to once again seek a seat on our local school board.
I joined the board in February 2026 and became Vice President in May 2026. My focus: building the D65 of the future with solid, stable, experienced leadership.
I’ve built my own business, led several turnarounds, and have grown high-performing teams.
In the next four years we’re going to build our district with three strategic priorities:

Modernizing Schools
Deepening Community

Our work begins now, but it continues through the election and will reverberate for decades.

May 2026-Present: Vice President
Selected by board to serve in one of two leadership positions
Managed successful process for selecting superintendent search firm (6-1 vote)
Facilitated board agreements that streamlined meetings while increasing transparency
February 2026-May 2026: Regular Board Member
1 of only 2 members to vote in favor of re-instating all middle schools guidance counselors
1 of only 2 members to vote against purchasing additional iPads for the district
Voted in favor of re-instating middle school librarians
